Stand up for the pro-life movement…Get called a misogynist by feminists.

They are only pointing out a fact…
Dear god, this is hilarious. If any of my followers don’t understand what male privilege is, this blog is the perfect example of it.

Don’t be so hard on this guy. I empathize with him. I too was once manipulated by the cruel, mind-warping oppression of the Catholic Church. You have to understand, this guy’s blog shows quite well what that wretched institution can do to a mind, there was one in particular that read “Priesthood or marriage?” As a recovered Catholic, I get that. I think anybody that realizes this is a “problem,” is close enough to chucking their religion in the trash where it belongs. We ought to welcome this guy to embrace reason. All reasonable people are pro-choice, that’s something that will follow once he frees his mind from the Vatican grip and starts making decisions rationally, not just checking views against the church’s stance.

But what about people who do chuck religion where it belongs, and STILL stand behind beliefs like this?

If they’re intellectually honest, they are forced to submit to the position based in the most sound rationality. From there, it’s just a matter of finding an explanation that convinces them. At least if they still side with the anti-choicers they came upon that conclusion without being instructed to by an institution.

I created a post explaining my secular pro-life slant some time ago.
Abortion, Science, the Constitution, and Burden of Proof (link)
Not every religious person is pro-life. When I was a pious Christian, I was viciously pro-choice. When I shed myself of my religion, I confronted several other beliefs I held with the same criticism I applied to my religion.
At first, applying truly unforgiving, merciless critical thinking to my thoughts on abortion seemed a useless exercise. It was obvious to me that women should be able to have abortions for any reason she feels she should have an abortion(as this was my position).  It was an obvious, common sense position.  Then I remembered that believing that a god existed was once an obvious, common sense position. Then I realized that I didn’t really have any thoughts that were uniquely my own regarding abortion, that, rather, I just repeated catchy phrases and generalizations I read or heard by other people who shared my thoughts.
Granted, I was young and hadn’t really been compelled before to seriously consider the merits of my own thoughts regarding this, but I decided check myself. My position changed shortly thereafter, leaving me with what I often describe as “pro-life leanings.”
Some of the ideas promulgated by mainstream pro-choicers are absolutely ridiculous, and wholly void of merit—such as the claim that the organism in the womb isn’t a person/baby until it is fully birthed. It shocks me to see so many of my critically thinking, atheist friends spouting such nonsensical brain-vomit. Yes, I use abrasive language regarding that particular claim, because it’s absurd. Literally, it’s just as absurd to suggest that some concrete divide exists in the humanity of an organism that is wholly based on whether or not it’s entire body, or a single toe remains inside of a vagina.
I have no problem with people holding beliefs that are absolutely based on nothing. I’m sure I have several beliefs of my own that I’ve yet to realize are based on thin air and flimsy. It’s okay, we’re not perfect and are inclined to idiocy. Just look at our history if you disagree with that sentiment. What I do get annoyed by, however, is when opinions and beliefs that are based on nothing more than desire are treated as fact, Truth with an upper-case T, and used to enforce or create law, or to manipulate/oppress/force an individual or the masses to comply to some principle based on that idea that stands on nothing.
An absurd idea is absurd, regardless of who has it, how many people have it, if it is religious in nature, secular in nature, sounds great, or sounds horrible—it is still silly gibberish.
